"Staff Choice" Project of the Month

For our March 2019 "Staff Pick" Project of the Month, we selected Outlook CalDav Synchronizer, a free Outlook plugin, which synchronizes events, tasks and contacts between Outlook and Google, SOGo, Nextcloud, Horde or any other CalDAV or CardDAV server. Outlook CalDav Synchronizer was previously selected "Staff Pick" Project of the Month in March 2017 where developer Alexander Nimmervoll spoke about the project's developments and direction. Recently we caught up with Alex to find out how the project has been doing since then.

Check out the full interview with the developers on our blog here.

Today in Tech

On this day in 2005 web services company Yahoo! acquired the company Ludicorp and its popular photo-sharing site Flickr. While not many details were released about the acquisition, it was reported to have cost between $22 to $25 million. By June of 2005 all of Ludicorp's data was migrated to Yahoo! servers, moving them from Vancouver, Canada to the U.S. This made the resulting data subject to United States federal law.

By May of 2007, Yahoo! announced that it would close down Yahoo! Photos, and that all photos would be deleted. All users were encouraged to migrate to Flickr. Learn more here.
